Over the decades, there have been many different fashion trends and styles that have been influenced from all over the world. There are different hairstyles, clothing styles, and shoe styles that people like. Many fashion trends and styles from years ago have been brought back by new generations and are made popular again. For example, cargo pants have made a big comeback since the 90s and the 2000s. “The 2000s era is where all my clothes are from now,” said senior, Bonnie Quansah.
Throughout the world, every country has different styles and fashions, but sometimes one country might influence another. Some styles are based on religion and culture. Age can influence a person’s style in different ways. My religion (Muslim) definitely opened my eyes to the people around me, ¨said junior, Shahd Al Hawi. As people get older, they could want to dress more comfortably and in what they see fit for their age. Style can also be affected by the job we have, our extracurricular activities, and the people we surround ourselves with. Perspectives on life typically change as we get older.
A large group of people look up to their favorite celebrities, television shows and movies, and family members for inspiration on what to wear. Some people could also use different social media platforms to look for inspirational pictures. for ideas on what to wear. “I usually get my inspiration from the manikins and posters in Dicks Sporting Goods store. I think about how I can build off of the outfits,¨ said senior, Jasmine Amini. Everyone gets his or her style from different resources. ¨I usually shop for what is in style or I look on Pinterest or Instagram for ideas on what to wear,¨ said junior, Dominique Quinn.
A person might have a certain item they are looking for when they go shopping. “When I go shopping, I mainly look for shoes, but there are times that I look for jeans and non-graphic shirts,” said Quinn. Everyone has different wants and needs when it comes to purchasing items. Some people want to have a different style from everybody else. “I try to look for clothes that are different from everyone else,” said senior, Terry Knighting.
Online shopping has been a big resource for people over the years. Many different clothing and shoe websites have been created for people who do not want to shop in the store. “ I order my clothes from Fashion Nova and Dicks Sporting Goods. I also shop on GOAT for shoes and hoodies, and also the Nike website,” said Amini. There are also different social media platforms that a person can use to create or get an idea of an outfit they are looking to wear. “I get inspiration from my TikTok, but not Pinterest because it is too expensive sometimes,” said Al Hawi. There are different budgets that people have to spend. “I get all my clothes from Temu, and when I shop for shoes, I usually get Tims and Uggs,” said Quansah.
Here at Liberty High School, there are various styles, yet everyone’s dresses are kind of similar to one another. We are dressy but casual, athletic but simple. Everyone just blends in all together.
