As Homecoming approached, LHS created a Hoco Spirit Week for all students. On each day of the school week, students had the opportunity to collaborate to come up with creative outfits for each day’s theme. On Monday, the theme was Soccer Mom vs. Barbecue Dad. On Tuesday, there was a Fashion Disaster. Then, on Wednesday, it was Rhyme without reason. On Thursday, it was Twin Day. Finally, on Friday, it was LHS Spirit.
On Monday, students dressed up as two sides: Soccer Mom and Barbecue Dad. Soccer moms dressed up in vibrant colors, which shows the enthusiasm that moms have to see their children participating in sports. Meanwhile, BBQ dads showed the chill side. Students dressed up in button-down shirts with aprons and even cooking utensils, which shows how BBQ dads always find the fun in good family times. Both sides showed how much support parents provide to their kids.
Tuesday’s theme was Fashion Disaster. Students dressed up in wacky and colorful outfits. Mismatched socks, tutus, and assorted clothing were all worn on. This theme was an opportunity to see over-the-top combinations of clothing that students could put together. It unleashed the creativity that children hold. Fashion Disaster was a laughter-filled theme as students giggled at others’ bold fashion choices.
Wednesday’s theme was a little different. Rhyme without a Reason was the perfect opportunity to partner up with a friend and make the week memorable. Students worked together to think of two words that rhyme but had no other relation. Fun words like napper and rapper along with dairy and fairy were paired together. We got to see how kids could think of words that rhyme while also making sure they could put together an outfit that would represent their words well.
One of the most anticipated themes of the week was Twin Day. Whether students went on a shopping spree specifically for this day, or put together an outfit based on their wardrobe. These outfits were truly amazing. The halls were filled with “twins” and their matching outfits. Students matched up with their friends or siblings and showcased their similarities. Students wore matching tops, jeans, and even detailing down to matching socks.
To end the homecoming spirit week, the last theme was LHS Spirit Day. Students decked out in the school’s merch. The LHS Eagle was seen around the campus a lot on Friday. From LHS sweatshirts, and t-shirts, and even just wearing the school colors (red, white, and blue), our school ended homecoming week embracing the love for our school.
As homecoming week came to an end we got to look back and remember all of the crazy and enthusiastic outfits students decided to wear. There are a lot of fun memories made during homecoming spirit week that a lot of people enjoy. Our Liberty spirit spilled over from the school week into the homecoming tailgate, football game, and homecoming game. Overall, LHS had a very successful homecoming spirit week with tons of participants and got to enjoy the homecoming dance at the end.
