You have probably heard of the musical Grease at some point in your life. Grease is about two high schoolers named Sandy and Danny who met on summer vacation. Sandy was supposed to be returning to Australia but her parents decided to stay in the town. Sandy ends up going to Rydell High and she and Danny meet again. This year, Liberty’s theatre group is performing that very musical. What better way to celebrate spring and the upcoming summer vacation than seeing a performance about summer love?
Mrs. Cushing, along with student director Gayle Naughton, decided to perform Grease as the spring musical. Gayle, the assistant director, had said: “I think that the underclassmen really stepped up for this show.” Jonah Blue said, “It took us a little while to get all of the props for the show because Grease has a lot of props throughout the show.”
The leads in the show are Colin MacMahon (Danny) and Karly McDonough (Sandy). Karly has been in multiple shows at Liberty High School one of them being The Legend of Sleepy Hollow. The show will include many musical dance numbers including a surprise performance performed by Yondel Rodriqeuz, singing “Beauty School Dropout.”
The play will be performed on April 4th at 7 pm and April 5th at 2 pm and 7pm. Ticket prices for students cost $10 and $14 for adults. You can get tickets by scanning the QR code on the posters in the hallways. I hope after reading this you decide to go to the show!
