This is the time of year when graduations are happening. Some seniors are excited to start their next chapter, but others want to reflect on the past. As the end of the year gets closer, many seniors reflect on their last four years of high school, some even wishing they knew back then what they know now.
In all four years of high school, seniors had some good and bad memories, some more memorable than others. “My most memorable moment in high school was losing the spirit stick in my senior year at the pep rally,” stated senior Benjamin Michnya. Although that memory was not that positive, some students have had some positive, memorable moments over their high school career. Senior Azaria Martin stated. “My favorite memory was meeting new people every year. I know that is not one specific memory, but I am grateful for all of the people I have met over the years.”
Many students in the class of 2025 are ready to start a new chapter in their lives. “I am more excited than nervous or sad or anything like that. I’m just really excited,” senior Azaria Martin exclaimed. Although some students, like Azaria, are excited for graduation and their post-grad life, some other seniors have mixed emotions. “I am excited and nervous, but I am ready to get started with my life,” stated senior, Cayden King.
Some seniors are going to college to play a sport and get their degree, like senior Cayden King. “I am going to college, I am going to wrestle, play football, work on tours to get my bachelor’s degree in criminal justice and political science.” Others are just going into the workforce, like the military, first responders, and businesses. Senior Kenny Benitez Campos said, “I am joining the workforce and becoming a police officer to save people and become a better person.”
As this year’s seniors reflected on their past, many wished that as freshmen, they had known the things they know now. Senior, Cayden King said, “Do everything you can and don’t stress about it too much.” It’s all about giving 100% in everything you do. Senior, Benjamin Michnya said, “I wish that I cared about my grades a little more than I did my freshman year because even when you think it doesn’t matter, your freshman year grades are visible to colleges during the college application process.” This is something that many seniors have felt over the years. Another wish that many seniors feel as they reflect back on their high school years is wishing they had been more involved in the school community. Senior, Azaria Martin said, “I would say to get more involved as a freshman. I was somewhat involved as an underclassman, but I think if I got more involved in the earlier years of high school, I would’ve had a lot more fun!”
After graduation, there will be high emotions, like happiness, sadness, and fear. Graduating from high school brings these students closer to adulthood. Finding your place in the world is a nerve-wracking thing to think about, but I think that everyone in the class of 2025 will make their mark. Everyone wishes all of the class of 2025 the best of luck in the world, and we can’t wait to see what they all accomplish.
