Olivia Rodrigo: she is an 18-year-old star who has had two major hit songs within this year and is about to come out with her first-ever album! Her new album is set to release on May 21st, 2021, and it’s called “Sour.” The song “Deja Vu” was written and sang by Rodrigo. It was released on April 1st, 2021, and was produced by Dan Nigro. It could fall into either of the genres indie, psychedelic pop, or alternative rock. It is also the second single from “Sour.”

Rodrigo has been taking singing and acting lessons since the young age of six. She started off small by just involving herself in some small parts of her school plays and some commercials. Then, she got her first major role as Grace in “An American Girl Doll: Grace Stirs Up Success” in 2015. She then got her second major role as Paige in the hit Disney Channel show “Bizardvark” from 2016-2019; this is when she had moved out to Los Angeles to pursue her acting and singing career. Now, she is on another hit Disney Channel show playing the main character, known as Nini, on “High School Musical: The Musical: The Series.”

Her singing career began just last year with some songs from “HSMTMTS.” She sang multiple songs throughout the filming of the show, all while still putting out two singles this year. Her two singles include “Drivers License” and “Deja Vu.“

There have been many rumors lately about who Rodrigo’s songs are about, such as her co-star from “Bizardvark” Ethan Wacker. Wacker was her previous boyfriend but they had broken up about a year and a half ago. The main person fans think the songs are about is her other co-star from “HSMTMTS,” Joshua Basset. She and Basset had been rumored to be dating after the first season of “HSMTMTS” came out. However, since Basset was over 18 and Rodrigo wasn’t, they never officially came out and said they were official, but they were still spotted together a lot and spent lots of time together, even off-set.

Although, all of these rumors came to an end when fellow Disney star, Sabrina Carpenter, posted a TikTok with Basset wearing couple costumes for Halloween. After Olivia released her song “Drivers License,” everyone started to ask questions. In Rodrigo’s song, she gave several hints to point out that she and Basset are no longer dating and she even gave some signs that are pointing to Basset and Carpenter being together. In Carpenter’s song “Skin,” which is what fans think is her strike back at Rodrigo for her song, she even had a man in the music video who looked almost exactly like Basset. It is also rumored that Carpenter was the girl in one of Basset’s music video, “Lie Lie Lie,” because they never showed her face, but they showed her nails, and Carpenter had the same nails as the girl in the video.

As to when her new song “Deja Vu” came out, there are some rumors that came along with this one as well. Throughout the whole song, she keeps referring to “she” and “her” and fans are assuming it’s Carpenter. Also in the song, she uses “you” quite often and many fans think she’s talking to Basset through the song. In the song, she sings “another actress,” which is another sign that points to Carpenter.

Actually, just over the past couple of days, Basset has appeared to come out; he hasn’t really addressed what he’s come out as, but many fans are believing that it will either be bisexual, pansexual, or queer. This also leads many fans to start to wonder whether the rumors with him, Carpenter, and Rodrigo are going to continue. At least he is now able to express himself the way he feels is necessary and he no longer has to hide anything like that from the public.

Overall, I think “Deja Vu” was an amazing song and Rodrigo did an awesome job on it. I would definitely recommend any of Rodrigo’s songs to someone searching for some great music, or just something to listen to. I definitely love all the drama that comes along with her songs and how she puts several little hints in her music relating to certain situations. I do, however, feel like this song was really similar to her last one and I wish they could’ve been a little more different. Besides that, I think it was a great song. I can’t wait to hear her new album that is coming out later this month!
