Saturday, October 8, is the annual Liberty High School Homecoming.

The theme for Liberty High School’s 2022 Homecoming festivities is “Red Carpet.” The theme was announced on September 27th through flyers hanging up in the hallway and on Twitter.

“The SCA officers and reps brainstormed ideas in May and voted to select the theme. They wanted a theme that gave them the freedom to decorate creatively but with ease,” said SCA sponsor Mrs. Jessica Hoffman.

Unlike last year, Homecoming will take place inside of the gym due to the weather. There will be lots of decorations including a red carpet, photo drops, lights, a star garland, and much more.

Tickets are $15 this Monday through Friday and $20 at the doors Saturday, but if students have any overdue books at the Library then they can’t buy their ticket until they turn their books back in. Guest permission forms for Homecoming are due to the front office this Tuesday.

October 3 was the official start date of Liberty’s Homecoming Spirit Week. The days for Spirit Week were PJ Day Monday, Blackout Day Tuesday, Decades Day Wednesday, Adam Sandler Day Thursday, and finally, LHS Spirit Day on Friday October 7.

Unlike in prior years, there is no grade level divide for participation.

After many inquires, Adam Sandler Day was finally approved and many people participated by dressing like the famed actor.

“I look forward to Adam Sandler Day the most because it’s new and something that we haven’t done before,” said junior Amanda Johnson.

“I’m excited for the spirit weekdays but I think I’m most excited for Adam Sandler Day because I’m going to have the best fit there,” said sophomore SCA Vice President Christina Dovell.

The week also featured a Homecoming door decorating competition. SOAR classes were encouraged to participate by collaborating to decorate the door that best represents the theme.

October 7  will also feature the annual Homecoming tailgate and football game. It will be an afternoon of games, food trucks, and fun.

Liberty’s football team will be facing Sherando High School and the Homecoming court will be announced during halftime.
