Tiny Steps, Big Moments, Even Larger Memories: The Little Feet Meet

Friendship is something that comes in all shapes and sizes. Tall and short, Old and young, no matter how different the people may be just a bond and a sense of safety with one another leads to healthy relationships. The inclusivity of Liberty High School makes these relationships possible by having events at the school such as the Little Feet Meet.

The Little Feet Meet is a collaborative event with elementary schoolers with sports and skill stations to accommodate all those involved. The Little Feet Meet involved a bunch of student participation from LHS, with there needing to be people everywhere to keep everything running. “I was a station leader for beanbag toss,” stated Junior, Braden Pribble. Students from all grades were involved such as Freshman Olivia Arey, “I was a buddy for a pre-k little girl named Avery,”.

When an event’s goal is for inclusivity and togetherness, you may not realize the impact you have on a person’s life or multiple lives. Even though it may not be said word for word how much you mean to someone or the impact you’re having on their life it can all be known by a smile on their face or a change in demeanor. “Probably right when we picked them up from their school and they were smiling and ready to go,” said Freshman Sam Ryman when asked when he realized the impact he had on the kids.

Although the event was for the elementary schoolers that didn’t limit the experience for the Liberty students involved, some used it to learn and some to make friends and make someone’s life better one conversation at a time. No matter what it was, everyone walked away differently, with a different perspective on the world. Pribble said, “It gave me an even bigger joy to help out others and it made me feel like a better person.”

The Little Feet Meet may have been fun and games for the little kids involved but there could have been other reasons if you were to ask the Liberty students involved. If you were to ask the kids involved what their favorite part of the meet was they would probably say something along the lines of beanbag toss or the bubbles. But when you ask one of the high schoolers their favorite part wasn’t the games but most would say the experience and seeing the kids have fun. Like Junior, Caleb Owens said, “ Being able to see the pure joy on the kids’ faces while they ran around and had fun with their friends made it special for me”.

The Little Feet Meet is an experience for all who are involved. This is why some students joined Champions Together; to be able to be a part of these kinds of events, like Olivia Arey who stated “I believe in inclusivity and everyone to have fun.” Next time you want to change the world think about inclusivity and Champions Together so maybe you can be the next person to put a smile on a little kid’s face.
