Liberty%E2%80%99s+Track+Team+Hurdles+Over+Personal+Challenges

Liberty’s Spring Track team has been hopping over obstacles. Many of the athletes on Liberty’s track team have been destroying PRs (personal records). There have been newcomers who have proven themselves in areas that they aren’t used to. Some track stars are doing so well that they have chances to go to districts, regionals, and even states.

Juan Hernandez, a sophomore, started running distance track in the spring after switching from sprints in the winter. He has been doing exceedingly well. Juan typically sprints the 800-meter dash. His first recorded time was 2:28:95. His current time is 2:17:73. “I’ve been enjoying distance because I’ve been making many friends, I’ve been improving with stamina and speed at longer distances. I feel proud of myself and the team,” explained Hernandez.

Aubrey Marshall, a freshman, is also new to the team and has been doing great this season.

“I was pretty cautious about joining and I wasn’t sure if I would like it. I had grown up watching my brother run for Liberty. My goal was to hurdle just like him, so I went to every meet to cheer him on, he ran hurdles and did throws. I came out of a rough basketball season this year so I was thinking of taking a break from sports, but my mom pretty much told me I had to try it out. Now track is my favorite sport and I don’t know where I would be without it,” said Aubrey. Aubrey’s main event is the 300m hurdles. She previously ran 57 seconds for the event, but now her PR is 54.7.

“I enjoyed this track season a lot. I have been able to grow a lot this past season. I have done a lot more events which allowed me to get better in my other events. Just happy that I ended it with my friends.” said Antwon Cline, a senior at Liberty High School. Antwon Cline also made it to regionals for the

In conclusion, Liberty’s Spring Track team has demonstrated remarkable progress and determination throughout the season. From newcomers like Aubrey Marshall and Preston Taylor to season athletes like Antwon Cline and Gabe Vega, who have shown their dedication and skill. The team’s collective achievements are a reflection of the hard work they’ve given. Athletes continuously beat personal records and earn chances to compete in more advanced regions such as districts, regionals, and states. As the season is coming to a close, the team stays united by their love for the sport and the memories made on the track together.
