The Best Motocross Tracks Around Virginia

The Best Motocross Tracks Around Virginia

The best motocross tracks around our area are Buds Creek, Tomahawk, South Fork, and Promised Land. They are all a variety of tracks and riding conditions and great to train and race at. Budds Creek is a great track for an experienced rider. If you don’t have experience, Budds Creek is not the place to learn. Budd Creek is very big with steep hills and known for some of the biggest jumps. The soil at Budds Creek is a mix of clay and sand so it is some of the best dirt to ride on it ruts up fast and makes great lines, budds creek is also known for the pro-national race they have there every summer which is some of the best riders in the world go and race. It attracts thousands of people to the race. Budds Creek is located in Mechanicsville, Maryland it’s about an hour and 40 minute drive.

Tomahawk MX is another great track to ride and race at a lot of people say it’s great or the worst track because of the soil the soil at Tomahawk is a good mix of topsoil and mulch so it makes it rut up a lot and has a lot of breaking bumps from people stopping so it makes the track rough and harder to ride which makes a lot of people get more tired faster. The track is an intermediate track it’s a great track for all types of riders even beginners the jumps are great size they have small to big jumps and are safer for beginners to intermediate riders than Budds Creek. Tomahawk has a lot of races, attracts a lot of people, and is the closest track. It’s located in Hedgesville West Virginia and is about an hour and 20 minutes from Virginia.

One of the best tracks to learn how to jump and corner is South Fork it is a great track for beginners and of all levels, the track isn’t hard or big but if you are trying to practice jumping South Fork is the place to go they have all kind of size jumps and different types of jumps, and the corners are some of the best to practice. The soil the track has is made out of sand mixed with dirt. It has the smoothest soil makes nice ruts and is all around a smooth and great track to ride, this track is liked by many people and South Fork also has a lot of races that attract many people to race there year round they are one of the father tracks they are located 40 minutes south of Richmond is around a 3-hour drive but very much worth the time.

Promised Land Motocross Park is one of those tracks that have everything in one. The jumps are all on the bigger side but it’s a great track for all riding levels. The corners are some of the best to practice because of how many choices you have of different ruts and they are deep. The track is loved by many but there are a lot of complaints about the rock that’s in the soil because the track is in the mountains so it’s very rocky and people don’t like that. It can be dangerous if you hit one but the soil that the track uses is great it’s clay and is a smooth track to ride. The track is well maintained like all of the other tracks, Promised Land also has many races and attacks a lot of people. Promised land is only about an hour and 40 minutes drive from Virginia. It’s located in Oldtown Maryland.

Dylan Scott, Staff Reporter
My name is Dylan Scott. I want to take over my dad's business or do real estate or a business on my own. I still don't know yet whether it's been a decision. My hobbies are riding my dirt bikes, skiing, working, and hanging out with my friends. I like the summer time and spring because of the weather. I can do more activities, but I prefer doing stuff on my own.
