As summer break approaches, students at Liberty High School are preparing for a mix of travel, work, relaxation, and academic planning for the year ahead. For many, the break is seen as a chance to step away from school routines while still staying productive and making memories. Summer break means a mix of travel, work, and preparation for the upcoming school year.
Summer plans vary widely among students. Some are looking forward to traveling with family or friends, while others are focused on earning money through summer jobs or saving for future goals like college or vehicles. Activities like spending time at the pool, attending local events, and enjoying seasonal traditions are also part of many students’ plans. Senior Tyson Schrum shared his excitement for an upcoming trip, saying, “I have a senior trip planned. I am going on a cruise ship, and I am going to Greece and Italy.” There are other students that are going to summer camps. Junior Jaime Smith explained, “JCLC is a summer camp for JROTC students that she intends on attending.”
While summer is often associated with relaxation, some students also use the break to prepare for the next school year. This includes attending summer school, working to improve grades, or staying active through sports and other commitments. These efforts help students get ahead before the next academic year begins. Junior Scarlett Mortenson stated “I am going to be running on my own and I will be running with the summer program team for a while so that I can get ready for next year”.
Overall, Liberty High students are approaching summer in different ways, balancing rest, responsibility, and recreation. Whether traveling, working, or preparing for school, students are making the most of their time away from the classroom.
