Hazel’s Pt 2: Cannoli Family Mystery

Hazels+Pt+2%3A+Cannoli+Family+Mystery

Whodunnit? At Hazel’s Part 2, an entirely student-run show, that’s your goal. This show was solely written and directed by senior, Rebecca Quiroga. “Writing this was long and tedious, in the end, it all kind of came together,” said Quiroga. What makes this show different? This show is an audience interactive dinner service, meaning some of the audience members will actually have a role in the performance.

Hazel’s Part 2 is a continuation of last year’s production of Hazel’s Murder Mystery. Why is it called Hazel’s in the first place? Well, the original script for part one of this show was set at a restaurant called Hazel’s, so the story was continued from there. The characters in it do have correlations to the original story, those who had characters in the last show have the same roles as well as new roles that have never before been seen.

This production is a lot harder than the usual productions to put on due to the fact that the actors and crew are only given around 2 ½ weeks to learn their lines, block, and rehearse before opening night compared to the time given for the annual play or musical. “We have 2 weeks, it’s scary.” said senior, Brendon Schmitz. But, because of how fast-paced this show is, it gives actors more experience with being able to put together a show in a short period of time and be able to improv easily if needed. “You don’t know what someone in the audience is going to do, so it helps sharpen improv skills.” said junior, Alanna Tapscott.

All of the LHS theatre 3-4 class worked hard to make this production amazing. Support them by going to see the show on Wednesday, March 6th, or Saturday, March 9th at 6 p.m. The tickets are $20 and can be bought online or at the door.
