All About the Love: Valentine’s Day Traditions

All About the Love: Valentines Day Traditions

Valentine’s Day has become a significant day for many people to appreciate that special someone in their life. Many people cherish the special day because it makes them feel good. Others may like sharing affection and making their significant other feel special on that day. Valentine’s Day is a day to be surrounded by people, who make you feel loved and appreciated in whatever way feels best for you.

Valentine’s Day is truly about spreading love and compassion. Spreading that unconditional love and compassion on Valentine’s Day means practicing self-love, love for others, and love for life. That is why Valentine’s Day is a special day for many people. Celebrating the day is all about spreading love to someone you love and cherish. Whether you have a significant other or not, it still feels good to spread love to people that you care deeply about.

“Throughout the majority of the year, people aren’t open to the ‘I appreciate you, I love you and what not’ but during valentines Day, people aren’t terrified to show that because that’s what the entire day is about” Said, junior Gale Naughton.

Many people celebrate Valentine’s Day differently. Many others take advantage of the holiday to celebrate romantic love, friendship, and admiration. Many people like exchanging gifts with their loved ones, such as flowers, gift cards, chocolate, etc. Others like to check up on friends throughout that day. Most people on that special day, like to dine out.

“On Valentine’s Day, I mostly receive gifts and I also try to make handmade gifts because I feel that’s more genuine than just buying gifts online and giving them to somebody. I do like to celebrate and try to show my appreciation,” said junior, Gale Naughton.

Valentine’s Day is a holiday to celebrate relationships. But when I asked students around the school what it meant for them, they all said it was love and compassion. Here is a sampling of what they said

“It’s a day where you spend time with your significant other, to cherish and love them,” said junior, Nick Hill.

While most people would agree, some believe Valentine’s Day is more than just a significant other. “Honestly, I think that it’s a holiday where everyone shows their appreciation towards a love to friends and family and everyone around, and I think it a really sweet holiday,” said Naughton.

One thing everyone can agree on is that Valentine’s Day is a time to celebrate love. “Valentine’s Day is a special moment to give things to your loved one like family, and friends,” said junior, Katherine Salguero.
