Finding Treasures: an Introduction to the World of Collectibles

Finding+Treasures%3A+an+Introduction+to+the+World+of+Collectibles

Many people own collections of some sort; even you might own a collection. Maybe you desire to start one, but you don’t know what to begin with or how. Searching for the most popular brands or items to collect is crucial, but also searching for things while being aware of the price is important. Responsibility is necessary when it comes to your budget and future.

Collecting isn’t as tough to start as some people may believe. Purchasing items from your favorite movies is a great way to begin a collection. Franchises like Star Wars, Harry Potter, and Avengers are excellent to start collections on. Searching for collectibles like prop replicas isn’t as hard either. A quick search on Google will most of the time do the trick, but also using websites like eBay, Amazon, or Etsy work.

Popularity is a huge portion of collecting. Funko Pops are very popular and many collectors have them in their possession. Funko pops can be a reasonable price with most being around $15, but they can get highly expensive. One of the most expensive pops sold for $100,000 and that was a Willy Wonka pop. Car collections are also extremely famous. The biggest collection in the world is owned by The Sultan of Brunei. He owns around a whopping 7,000 cars and costs well over $5 billion. Car collectors can collect because of the price and looks or because of the popularity of the vehicle. Vehicles like the Batmobile, or Back to the Future’s Delorean are wanted by many. Getting the real deal isn’t so possible, but creating one is. Some of the real cars from the Back to the Future trilogy are owned by collectors Patrick and Bill Shea, who claim to have the largest collection of props and other screen-used items from the film. Having a personal collection is nice, like many different objects that resemble your favorite animal or hobby.

Responsibility is the most critical. Know your budget and how you should be spending your money. While flexing a collection can be a dream, you need money for taxes, bills, food, family, and much more. Don’t go out on your own and purchase a $1000 collectible with everything you’ve got. Your collection doesn’t need to be enormous or costly. Be responsible with the way you spend cash.

Collections are always fascinating to people. Starting one isn’t always hard, it’s fairly easy, but holding onto it is difficult. You could own collectibles from popular franchises, but also your collection can be personal. Be responsible when it comes to your money, and keep in mind how you are living and the things you need.
