Airpods at school can be a really big distraction for a lot of people. Not only for kids, but for teachers in the building. Some teachers don’t like it when you have airpods in because it takes away from all their teaching, and also some kids don’t learn very well from having airpods in. Some kids just sit in class and blast music in their ears and tend to not pay attention to anything the teacher is saying. Because of this, they miss the directions the teacher gives and they don’t know what to do because all they have been doing is listening to music all class long.
If the students’ music is too loud and people around them won’t be able to focus and learn and would get distracted by it. If they can’t focus, they can’t do their work. Seeing one student with AirPods in could make others do the same. This could take away from the teachers’ lessons. This means the students wouldn’t get all the information they need from the teacher. If the music is too loud to the point where everyone around you can hear it, it can be distracting to others
Although some teachers don’t mind seeing their students with AirPods in, others find it disrespectful in many ways. They take it as a sign of disrespect because having them in means that you prioritize your music over their lesson. This could be seen as disrespectful because they take the time to make lessons and for you to learn them. Airpods can cause you to fail your classes and fail most of your tests.
However, having AirPods in and listening to music while doing your schoolwork could work for some people. It helps some students focus more on their own work and some students work very well with music on. It also improves your energy and productivity, whether it’s an energizing beat of an up-tempo track or the smooth melodies of a classical composition. Music has its power to revive your spirit and motivate students through even the most difficult tasks
I would say that airpods are allowed to certain students, because if you’re a student that doesn’t know how to focus really well and has trouble focusing on school work and struggles a lot with school work, then having airpods probably isn’t the best fit for you. Whether AirPods are helpful or harmful really depends on the student. While they can improve focus for some, they can also become a major distraction for others students. Schools may need clearer guidelines to balance both perspectives.
