Every year we look forward to class superlatives, but this year students decided teachers deserved some recognition too. From “Most Likely to Survive A Zombie Apocalypse” to “Most Likely To Brighten Your Day”, students voted on which teachers best fit each category. The results highlighted not only teachers personality, but also the positive impact they have on students every day.

One memorable category was Best Iconic Teacher Duo, which went to Mr. Clatterbuck and Mrs. (name).According to students, the pair are “always together” and have become more recognizable around the school because of their strong teamwork and energy. Their friendship and collaboration clearly stand out to students.
While some awards focused on humor, others recognized teachers’ kindness and support. Another superlative, Most Likely to Brighten Your Day, was awarded to Mrs. Zimmer. Students describe her as incredibly caring with a positive attitude. “If I were to ever come into class one day, super sad Mrs. Zimmer would easily comfort me.” says Freshman Leia Dodd. Mrs. Zimmer is said to always check in on students to make sure they are okay.
The category Most Likely to Be Mistaken for a Student went to Mrs. Sertass after a close race decided by only one vote
against English teacher Mrs. Hoffman. Because Mrs. Sertass is younger than many teachers, students said the superlatives fit her perfectly. She was not surprised by the result.
“I’m humbly flattered, but not surprised. One time I was walking in the hall on my phone and another teacher yelled at me, mistaking me for a student. It was funny telling them I was actually a teacher.” she explains.
Mrs. Hoffman earned the title Most Likely to Be Called Mom/Dad. When asked about receiving the award, she said she
appreciated the trust students place in her.
“It feels wonderful,” Mrs. Hoffman said. “It’s great to know that students trust me and feel comfortable around me.”
She also shared a funny memory involving a former student.
“The first time it happened was when one of my students, Matthew Woodburn, accidentally called me ‘mom’ while asking a question in class and then continued talking as if nothing had happened,” she said.
Students said the award suits Mrs. Hoffman because she acts like a second parent to many students.
Students also recognized other teachers in fun categories. Mrs. Gustafson was voted Most School Spirited because she leads many clubs and activities. Coach Darnell was chosen as Most Likely to Survive a Zombie Apocalypse because students believe he is physically strong and resourceful. Mrs. Hunsley earned Most Likely to Quit Their Job and Travel the World, and finally Mrs. Linebaugh won Best Decorated Classroom.
These teacher superlatives gave students a chance to celebrate the teachers who make school enjoyable every day. Whether through humor, encouragement, or school spirit, these teachers have made meaningful connections with students throughout the year.
