Junior, Khloe Carter recently received a diagnosis that has changed her daily routine and challenged her school life: Polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS). Polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS) is a hormonal condition that can cause fatigue, irregular cycles, and other physical symptoms. For many years, Khloe has suffered from PCOS symptoms, and she and her mother knew something wasn’t right. She finally decided to go to the hospital and get tested. When Khloe got her results back, she found out she had PCOS . This news was heartbreaking and new to Khloe.
Khloe started experiencing symptoms when she was 11 years old, which is very hard to go through at that age. She has been taking antidepressant medication for several years. Recently, after being diagnosed with Polycystic Ovary Syndrome, she began new treatments to help manage her symptoms. Adjusting to these medications has been difficult, and she says the side effects often leave her feeling unwell throughout the day. There are mornings when she feels so unwell that she cries and begs her mom to let her stay home. Even so, Khloe continues to push herself to attend school whenever she can, determined to keep up with her responsibilities.
Khloe’s biggest obstacle right now is her school life with her PCOS. She has to miss school because of how sick she gets from the medication. This causes her to fall behind in her schoolwork. Khole is a straight-A student. She’s always been the kind of student who works hard and won’t settle for anything less than her best. Falling behind makes her really upset and stressed because her grades drop, and it’s not her fault. She tries to get them up as much as she can. Khloe goes home every day working on the missing work, but it still takes time and a lot of strength to do this.
Khloe has been working very hard to get through this and is trying her best. Khloe’s way of getting stuff off her mind is talking to friends and trusted adults. Khole says, “I’m very thankful for my friend Marleigh because she has helped me through a lot” .With Khloe’s medical condition, she has to take care of her body more and watch what she eats. Khloe has had to change her routine or things, but not for the worse. Khloe has been going to the gym almost every day and eating lots of protein. Despite the challenges, Khloe continues to attend school and work hard to maintain her grades.
Although her diagnosis of Polycystic ovary syndrome has changed parts of her daily life, Khloe refuses to let it define her future. This is really hard for her, considering she didn’t know this was going to be her future. “Yes, this is all really hard for me, but this does not define me as a person,” Khloe states. “I will still continue to do my best in life and never give up on myself ”. This diagnosis makes her push herself and also stay healthier and not give up, says Khloe. “I just know to do better and keep pushing myself to my limits”.
Khloe continues to show up with the same kind and positive personality she is known for. Her determination serves as a reminder that strength is not always visible, and that sometimes the toughest battles are the ones fought each day quietly.
